“Age cannot wither her nor custom stale her infinite variety”
Finance and technology sectors
Although I have written for most sectors, finance and technology have been my main bread and butter. I have about ten years of experience copywriting and managing communications projects for leading Toronto financial institutions, including: Foresters, John Hancock/Manulife, BMO, Markel Insurance, Unity Life and Zurich Financial. I’ve also worked for many notable IT accounts like Ceridian. Nortel, AOL Canada, LG, NuComm and Waverider – so I get “tech talk” too.
Toronto agency work, early jobs and education
Certainly, I have worked for many agencies including The Cohen Group, Communique, Rapp Collins Communicaide (where I won an RSVP award) Draft Worldwide and The St. John Group. My first communications job was editorial assistant at the prestigious CBC National Newsroom in Toronto, running scripts to Mansbridge and writing news stories. Other early jobs included promotions coordinator at the Canadian Magazine Publishers Association and TV travel host and writer for Discover Your World Travel show. In terms of education, I am a scholarship award-winning U of T graduate in English and Drama. who also studied public relations at Toronto’s Ryerson University and radio broadcasting at Humber College.
Museum, Egyptology and travel writing
I’m also currently a budding expert in Egyptology (a part-time U of T graduate student) with a passion for writing for museums. Some of my proudest accomplishments include writing articles about famous Egyptologists, archaeology digs, proposals for museum exhibits and blogs and articles for the Royal Ontario Museum.
